This is the first stage of the 6 processes of listening, it is described as the deliberate means of receiving or getting in contact with a sound. Remembering

Remembering as one of the stages associated with the processes of listening is concerned with how a listener is able to recall the understood sounds and adds to the listener’s retentive memory. This is an indication that such sound is considered to be an important one to the listener who is willing to employ whatever available means to not let go of the sound.

This stage describes the part where the listener makes a proper assessment of the new message. it is achieved by the determination of the value of the new message in consideration of the valuation of the old ones. The most important and relevant message at this stage of the process of listening will be placed ahead of the others and processed.

Responding

This is the stage where the speaker gets to find out if the message passed was properly received by the recipient in its full form or not, it is the reactional stage in the process of listening, here, the recipient of the initial message is required to become the speaker while communicating with the initial speaker by providing the required feedback.
