The Schwarzman Scholars Programme is a special type of scholarship, prepared for international students in a bid to build the next generation of global leaders. It is the first of many scholarships created to tackle the geopolitical landscape issues of the 21st century.
The program is designed to provide the world’s most talented and brightest students with the best set of instruments needed to develop their leadership skills, and professional networks, as well as to ensure their preparedness for the global task ahead through a one-year Master’s Degree program at the Tsinghua University in Beijing – A prestigious University in China.

Eligibility Requirements:
The eligibility requirements for the Schwarzman Scholars Programme can be grouped into three major categories as listed below-
- Applicant’s academic qualifications
- Applicant’s age requirement and lastly,
- Applicant’s English proficiency test results

Applicant’s Academic Qualification:
Only applicants who are currently enrolled and are undergoing an undergraduate degree program, first-degree program, or their equivalent at an accredited university are eligible and are allowed to apply for the program.
However, these students must be on the verge of rounding up all the degree requirements before the 1st of August 2022. No specific requirements are needed for any field of undergraduate study. Applicants are to state clearly in their application how participating in the Schwarzman Scholars Programme will be of immense help in developing their potential within their field of study.

Applicant’s Age Requirement:
The applicants applying for the Schwarzman Scholars Programme must have at least attained 18 years of age but not yet 29 years of age at the period of their application.
Applicant’s English Language Proficiency Test Result:
IELTS, TOEFL, and their likes are popularly known across the world as the required tests for students who are aiming to pursue a degree in any of the English-speaking countries.
They are also used by other developed countries like Germany, China, Netherlands aside from their native languages as the medium to test international students’ proficiency in the English language. This is to aid in determining what language the student can easily understand and assimilate while learning.
Applicants for the scholarship must be able to demonstrate strong English language skills, as all teaching will be conducted in English. Applicants whose native languages are not English, are to submit alongside their other application details the official English proficiency test scores. Below are the acceptable test scores and test options:
• Minimum score of 600 in TOEFL PBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is required.
• Minimum score of 100 in TOEFL IBT (Internet Based Test of English as a Foreign Language).
•International English Language Testing System (IELTS). A minimum score of 7 is required.

NOTE: This requirement is waived for applicants who graduated from an undergraduate institution where the primary language of instruction was English for at least two years of the applicant’s academic program. The requirement will also be waived for applicants who have studied English for two or more years at a Master’s degree level or higher.
